House

I had to revisit part one.

Watch ‘House’ on Tubi

In the opening scene, a young man rides up a large house on a red scooter to deliver the groceries.

Finding no one around in the large two story house, he continues to walk around exploring. Sure. That’s fine, walk around the house, delivery guy.

As he wanders through the house and up the stairs, the scenery is full of  interesting paintings hung on the walls.

He keeps wandering into the house, up the stairs. Amazing, large beautiful wooden furniture is shown in the bedroom as the delivery boy wanders into an elderly ladies’ room to find her hanging from the ceiling. an apparent suicide.

He runs out, and the scene does a crossfade that hints at telling you that time has passed.

Arrivi lng at the house, Roger, the nephew of the elderly lady from the opening scene (played by William Katt)

Random memory from kindergarten here. I had such a crush on William Katt when he was on The Great American Hero.

I’m so impressed by the representation of 80’s style. Skinny ties and jackets with the sleeves pulled up to the elbow.

Dude throws a whole tv dinner, box and all in the microwave and sets it for 30 minutes. That’s gonna burn

Then, he walks into the room where his computer is.. as he was to be writing a new book.. this time about his experiences in Vietnam.

The computer is huge!!  The full on home computer of the 80’s in tan cinderblock and green glowing stencil letters.

Backstory time

Roger and his wife talk on the phone.  His son was missing, presumed dead. Roger is still intent on finding his son, as he never believed he was dead.

Flashback time…

Jimmi is Roger’s son. They are outside, at house. Roger is cutting hedges, and he notices the boy is missing after looking away for specifically, 2 seconds. He runs around looking all over for the boy and finally sees the boy splashing in the pool, appearing to be struggling pretty badly. Roger dives in and the kid is suddenly nowhere to be found. Gone.

End scene

Ok , so it’s the next day and he meets the neighbors. His neighbor right next door

Is Norm from Cheers. George Wendt

I remember part two has the mailman in it

Roger hurries back in to write and be alone.

A while later, apparently Roger is starting to see things…sees a boy as a hologram. The boy calls him, but the voice came from upstairs.. so he follows the sound upstairs.

Total 80s gear moment.

Extra low cut v neck sweater 80s look

Suddenly a giant slimy skeleton death creature bursts in the room through a door and he shoves it back in the room and locks the door up… but he stays at the house for the rest of the night.

The next day, a truck pulls up and makes a huge delivery.  He sets up like a million cameras and ties a rope to the door handle. He pulls the rope and he starts some sort of evasive maneuvering all the way out of the room, down the stairs and finally, he runs out of the house where ‘Norm’ catches the final leap onto the front walk and they talk briefly before Roger sends his neighbor off again.

Roger Goes back and resets all his traps again. He stays this time, after pulling the rope tied to the closet door .. and nothing is there

He shuts off the lights and is walking along drinking a beer when the clock strikes midnight. Man, he jumps like he got poked with something and runs off.  He want’s try the closet door again, (oh.. I get it now) but Norm comes over with Beer and Pizza where they talk about what he has been experiencing, and Norm is worried for him. Norm took Roger’s phone book on the sly and calls Roger’s wife, who is divorcing him.

She is a movie star, on set, and can’t go to him. She tries to call him, but he is writing, and in another flashback

Suddenly, The swordfish on the wall is flapping around.

Oh. It’s making noises.

A creepy dying mounted swordfish; with a pupil that follows every movement Roger makes, starts flopping about with its living dead, creepy eye following, stuck on a plank body.

I like this update to the moment.

There. All fixed.

But then… the garden tools are after him in the bathroom and Roger’s ex-wife, movie star shows up to catch him  running around with his shotgun.

She turns into a big scary creature, so he blasts it with a shotgun. Suddenly… she’s her again and dead on the porch with a shotgun hole in her

Norm hears the shots and calls the cops

Roger hears the cop’s sirens approaching and carries her body inside

The cops know nothing about the body

The cops come through, have coffee, they finish and leave.

The body is gone.

Oh, wait… She’s back to being the giant hideous creature, and the garden tools are still trying to get in the room.

It works out though.

Later that night… ok..

Enough with the play by play.

Go watch this one to find out how it all actually goes down.

This classic horror is always a good revisit.

Chillerama

This 2011 Anthology starts out strong.

It’s the final night of the local drive in, and it’s Showtime. Uncle Cecil begins the last all night horror show with a dynamic introduction, and the film begins to roll.

The first flick shares a man’s weak sperm issue with an experimental drug. This is a hard pill to swallow.

Another story is a musical, “I was a teenage werebear”. It’s a catchy tune you can’t help but listen to, and a storyline that you can’t stop staring at… like a car wreck.

Hitler gets some of the punishment he deserved in a story that nods to Frankenstein

There seriously is one all about shit. So gross. I skipped. Tapped out on that one.

Chillerama is a horror comedy anthology film that was released in 2011. The film is directed by Adam Rifkin, Tim Sullivan, Adam Green, and Joe Lynch. The movie features four different segments that pay homage to classic horror films, and it is a true must-see for horror fans.

The first segment of Chillerama is “Wadzilla,” which was directed by Adam Rifkin. The segment follows a man who takes a male enhancement pill that ends up causing a giant sperm to grow inside of him. This segment is a hilarious satire on the classic monster movie genre.

The second segment is “I Was a Teenage Werebear,” which was directed by Tim Sullivan. The segment follows a young man who becomes a werebear, and it features lots of campy musical numbers. This segment is a fun tribute to the beach party and musical horror films of the 1960s.

The third segment of Chillerama is “The Diary of Anne Frankenstein,” which was directed by Adam Green. The segment follows Hitler as he creates a monster out of the remains of Anne Frank. This segment is a clever parody of the Frankenstein story, and it manages to be funny while still being respectful to the original novel.

The final segment of Chillerama is “Deathication,” which was directed by Joe Lynch. The segment follows a group of friends who accidentally unleash a zombie outbreak at a drive-in theater. This segment is a gory, action-packed tribute to the zombie movie genre.

Overall, Chillerama is a must-see for horror fans. The film is a hilarious tribute to classic horror movies, and it manages to be both funny and scary. If you are a fan of horror or comedy, then you should definitely give Chillerama a watch.

The Gate

“The Gate” is a classic horror movie from 1987 that is still widely enjoyed today. The movie tells the story of two young boys who accidentally open a gateway to a mysterious and dangerous world in their backyard. With its suspenseful and frightening moments, “The Gate” is a perfect movie for fans of horror and the supernatural. The effects, while dated by today’s standards, are still impressive and add to the overall eerie atmosphere of the movie. The soundtrack is also noteworthy, adding to the tension and making the scary scenes even more impactful. Overall, “The Gate” is a must-watch for horror fans and a nostalgic trip down memory lane for those who grew up with it.

It’s all fun and games until somebody gets a Barbie stuck in their eye

House 2

We open on what appears to be the same house as part one. As the camera pans, over the ornate banister we see a woman holding a baby, and we hear a car honk its horn. She alerts her husband that “They’re waiting” and they meet a couple downstairs at a car, who takes the baby and leaves. They go inside and see a shadow pass through the upstairs, and look to each other tentatively, “Is it him?” The husband grabs his gun and they wander upstairs. from the shadows and amidst a thunder and lightning crash, a tall old dead cowboy character appears. telling them he wants the skull. The couple deny the presence of a skull, he shoots the husband. The wife tries to escape, he is suddenly in front of her and the screams are heard over the cut shot to the front of the house.

It cuts away to apparently some time later, where a young couple are going into the house. Apparently the house belonged to his family . He was the baby. Then he looks through old family photos and sees his great great grandfather Jesse McLoughlin.

Friends show up and bring Jesse a birthday present celebrating his photo on a magazine cover. Jesse’s girlfriend is apparently working for a record company, and upon hearing their friends band, she calls her boss, played by Bill Maher.

Jesse is checking out more old photos and records. His grandfather discovered the crystal skull and Slim is the partner who fought over the skull with Grandpa Jesse never got it from him. There is another skull.. and he wants to find it. He decides to go look into the grave of his grandfather Jesse figuring he could be buried with it.

They dig up the grave that night , pull the coffin up out of the ground and Jesse pries the coffin open, He pulls back the lid revealing the skull he was searching for. just as he goes to reach for it, an undead hand reaches up and grabs him by the throat. The corpse stands to its full height holding Jesse still.

they work it out and reintroduce Jesse to his grandfather and his grandfather to 1986.

Great grandpa realized he is walking dead looking. The friend lets gramps drive his Spider. they take off wildly and go off to drink under the stars they drive back safe and only crash when they get back, right into the decor on the driveway

This is where Bill Maher shows up. He works with the girlfriend is looking for the new Madonna , hoping Jesse’s friends  girl could be their new star. Big record exec guy.

Gramps watches Tv and gets bummed starts talking about back in the the day. Jesse asks about Slim Razor, gramps reveals that he shot Slim in a shootout in the Mojave desert.

They have a big party at the house , a big barbarian shows up and takes the skull. Gramps cant live without the skull, there’s a jungle upstairs now and Jesse has to get the skull back.

Cliff from Cheers helps them battle through the jungle to get the skull

They catch up to the barbarian and have a comical fight till some enormous stop motion creature comes along and eats the barbarian.

Then, they have the skull.. until a pterodactyl comes by and takes it, dropping it in its nest

They crash back at the house with the skull and a new friend or so. The puppy worm creature and a baby pterodactyl, who runs through the house with the skull in its mouth.

Bill Maher and friend pop through. Avoiding a run in with the weird guest, Jesse wrestles the sky dino, while Bill Maher and new Madonna are trying to get by his friend to see what the noise is about. pterodactyl in the cabinet, old guy in the basement. They trade baby pterodactyl the skull for a steak and grandpa puts beer in a bottle for the puppy worm. It all works out.

Or does it? There’s still this guy.

the cops were called about the noise and they end up shooting up the house and starting a fire

the pterodactyl, Jesse and puppy worm go out to face the cops

Go watch the rest.

The Video Dead

“The Video Dead” 1983

Crappy, hokey and weird, bad makeup,
Bad acting

A favorite line.
“That’s the way I am, I’m a strange person”

This cult feel has me reminiscent of Rocky days.
Audience participation opportunities a plenty.
Zombies climb out of an old, cursed tv.
Brained with an iron does not take these guys out
Bad edits help keep the vibe flowing.
I like the authentic looking backgrounds for the early 80s .. and then the switch to obvious sets to keeps you on ypur toes.
These zombies strangle people.
They just put a lady in a washing machine.. her legs were sticking out and spinning.

We have a full head twist.. 360. Zombie lady that put a wig on did it.

This is great.

Hellarious

Tonight’s movie is called Hellarious.
A series of 7 stories in one movie an anthology.

Chapter 1. Killer Kart. A killer shopping cart terrorizes the closing crew of a small grocery store.
Everyone screams for like 3 minutes prior to getting attacked by the cart.
The lead guy looking like a potential hero is a middle aged manager guy.. who throws some pro wrestler vibes. Along with the new manager, who’s boyfriend is one of the first victims, so she is pissed.. and screams alot.
It’s cartpocolypse. And the new manager is on duty.

Chapter 2 A Giant rat creature with a crazy claw mouth… alien like even, shows up in a guy’s trailer. Chaos ensues.
Death by doobie.
You know, with rats though.. when You see one…

Chapter 3. Til Death. A death contract for a group of guys who hate being married turns from bad to worse.

They wake up the next morning, and their dead wives are still there. Each bearing their mortal wounds they suffered the night before, The wives seem to be unaware of their new styles and accessories. The men are really sorry when their wives continue to live as if they were never killed.

Chapter 4. Death metal
Grandpa made a deal with Satan. Lars’ dad gives him the guitar grandpa got from the deal. Along with 3 simple rules to follow.
Lars breaks all the rules. The Satan guitar is released to unleash havoc on the local park .
These effects just need to be seen.

This is Death Metal.

Chapter 5 Lunch ladies.

A pair of aspiring professional chefs receive the news that they are going to be Johnny Depp’s personal chefs.

They have to come up with the air fare to get to his event by staying on as lunch ladies at a horrible high school where the kids are mean to them and they are under pressure to create better food.

Finally. One of them snaps and takes out the mean, nasty cheerleader.. with a dirty plunger in the face. This chic had a brown ring on her face.

WWJD what would Johnny do …with the body? Serve it up to the school kids as lunch! This is a serious grinder. “Surprise Friday” lunch smells pretty darn good…

Chapter 6 Bitten. Reverse werewolves. The house pet of a lonely middle-aged lady turns into a man, and runs the streets… and more.

Chapter 7 Born Again.

A shorter story, primarily about a Satanic Birth.

Still funny as hell.

Dead Alive aka Braindead

This one is a classic. Gross, choppy story, and scenes to remember for years.

“Dead Alive,” also known as “Brain Dead,” is a cult classic horror-comedy film directed by Peter Jackson. The movie follows Lionel, a young man who must care for his zombie mother while trying to fend off a horde of the undead in his community.

One of the standout features of “Dead Alive” is its extreme gore and over-the-top violence, which is both hilarious and disgusting at the same time. The special effects are impressive for the time in which the film was made and hold up surprisingly well today.

The humor in “Dead Alive” is dark and sarcastic, and the film is filled with memorable moments, such as the zombie baby and the lawnmower scene. The cast is also excellent, with standout performances from Timothy Balme as Lionel and Elizabeth Moody as his mother.

One of the most memorable scenes of this movie. Dinner.

Overall, “Dead Alive” is a must-watch for fans of horror-comedies and cult films. While it may not be for everyone due to its gore and violent content, it is a movie that will stay with you long after you’ve seen it. Just be prepared for some of the most absurd and entertaining zombie mayhem you’ll ever witness on the big screen.
